This webquest was designed to meet part of our online CALL course requirements during the spring semester of 2005. One key objective for this project was to design a webquest specifically with ESL/EFL students in mind. We decided to create something for children, and since all children love animals, our team designed a collaborative research task that would appeal to this interest.

This task revolves around the idea that the local zoo has been given a generous donation and wants to build a new habitat. The zoo is soliciting input from the students based upon classroom research about four animal species:  pandas, gorillas, penguins, and caimans. After choosing one of these four animals, students work in groups of three to gather information about their animal's living environment, social habits, and physical needs. Once the information is gathered, students prepare a PowerPoint presentation which reveals their findings and recommendation.
