This content based ESL science class consists of twelve multicultural 5th and 6th graders with an intermediate level of language proficiency. Most of the students speak Spanish at home but this WebQuest is appropriate for students from any language background. The goal of the class is to improve English language production and comprehension, while learning about the natural world around us.

Currently the students are working on improving their language skills through collaborative research. Recent class work includes a Zoology Unit and a field trip to the local Zoo.

The students are familiar with word processing through Microsoft Word and have used various internet search engines as well Microsoft Encarta for research. They have created short slide shows using Microsoft PowerPoint. Each student also has his/her own email account.
